On Saturday 27 August I took part in the Spar Woman’s run/walk. I have taken part in two previous walks, doing the 10kms walk with no problems. This year I registered for the 5km walk.
I walked with four friends from Bethany. It was very hot and the juice I had was warm. We started off at a good pace but suddenly I could not breathe properly and started coughing. I slowed down and my friends did the same. My good friend told the others to go on ahead and she stayed with me. Each time I stopped she did the same. She gave me her hand and tried to lead me.
As we continued, a man who was watering his garden was filling the bottles of the walkers and wetting them as well. I filled my bottle with this ice cold water and in the process got my clothes wet - that was so refreshing. I still walked slowly but the water had helped me. We passed a water table and I took some more water - it did wonders for me.
About half way I saw that the rest of the group had stopped to wait for us. What a lovely sight it was, just seeing them. I rested a while and then we carried on to finish the walk and we all received our medals.
This walk reminded me of our Christian walk. We start off at a good pace but sometimes we slow down or even stop and ask ourselves “is this worthwhile?” Once we have received the Living Water we are renewed and refreshed and then we can continue in our walk.
Some of us go ahead in our walk but then wait for the others to catch up and together we carry on till we reach our goal and we are rewarded with the Crown.
To my angel friends who walked with me I would like to thank them for all their care, concern and love. Your presence helped me reach the end. They are Laura, Kelly, Kaylynn and Jess.
I would like to encourage them continue to be who they are as their lives will encourage others in the Christian walk.
