At our ninth Mannekamp were 41 men which included two men from the Lyttelton Methodist church and one man from the Moreletta NG Kerk.
The leaders were Marcus Van Niekerk, Riaan Jonker, Buks van Ellewee, Allan Hall, Gary Koekemoer, Chris Pienaar, Jonathan Clarke and Hennie Nel.
The venue was Ephaphatha, just north of Warmbaths, and unlike last year, we had only one of the men taking his own co-ordinates and got lost. Fortunately his wife called Hennie who was able to bring the pathfinder to the correct location!
The time of fellowship and the breaking up into small groups was a real blessing where a lot of questions were heard and discussion took place.
There were five studies in total:
ending with Quiet Nudges, Gods will and my will.
Between the different sessions Pastor Jonathan would bring the Word pertaining to the next topic.
We had early morning prayer meetings which were well attended and a prayer meeting with the leaders before every session.
Saturday afternoon we had an egg throwing challenge, which was won by Riaan Jonker and Glenn Foord. We also had challenges crossing water on tubes and a pole over the side of the plaas dam which were a lot of fun, flour and sweets. The men’s team spirit was high (with lots of cheering and encouragement offered to the different teams).
In the late afternoon free time Jonathan Clarke held a Bible quiz and the top answerers were Jonathan Cloete and Henlo Du Preez in their respective Teams.
Saturday evening was spent around the camp fire and Allan Hall and Michael Karamanolis gave their testimonies. The three Tenors (Duncan Haigh, Chris Pienaar, and Hennie Nel) sang some wonderful choruses. Some of men shared on what happened to them on the camp into the early hours of Sunday morning.
We give thanks to the Lord for his goodness, provision, protection and blessing on the camp. Thank You too to our hosts, Albert & Rentia and their staff, for their hospitality in making this a memorable and blessed weekend to us all.
Next year we are planning on celebrating our 10th Mannekamp and are already extending a hand of friendship and an invitation to all the men in our church.
